La ética social de los profetas y su relevancia para América Latina hoy: La fecundidad de la “imaginación profética”.

Una lectura literaria ayuda a entender cómo el texto profético puede te-ner una influencia
transformadora hoy. Se recomienda partir del texto canónico, reconocer que funciona como
un “texto clásico” y buscar dis-cernir el papel de la “imaginación profética”. Estos principios se
ilustran en una lectura de dos aspectos de Amós: la realidad religiosa de Is-rael plasmada en varias
partes del libro, y la visión de un futuro muy distinto en 9:11-15.
A literary reading helps to understand how the prophetic text can have a transforming influence today. The recommended approach focuses on the canonical text, recognizes that it functions as a “classical text”, and seeks to discern the role of “prophetic imagination.” These principles are illustrated in a reading of two aspects of Amos: Israel’s religious re-ality portrayed in various parts of the book, and the vision of a very different future in 9:11-15.

La disparidad en las interpretaciones sobre la llenura del Espíritu Santo en Hechos es suficiente motivación para releer
el texto bíblico con el fin de hallar la explicación más apegada al texto. Un estudio de los textos pertinentes y los términos
griegos empleados muestra que Lucas distin-gue entre el “ser llenado del Espíritu” para emitir una declaración ins-pirada y
la virtud espiritual de ser “lleno del Espíritu”.
The disparity among the interpretations of the filling of the Holy Spirit in Acts is sufficient motivation to reread the biblical text to find the ex-planation that is most faithful to the text. A study of the relevant texts and the Greek terms employed reveals that Luke distinguishes between “being filled with the Spirit” to pronounce an inspired declaration and the spiritual virtue of being “full of the Spirit”.

Una concepción correcta de qué es la teología nos permite reconocer el lugar
central que tiene para el cristiano y la iglesia. La teología es in-dispensable, por ejemplo,
para la catequesis, la educación cristiana, la evangelización, las misiones, el ministerio pastoral,
la apologética, la espiritualidad, la exégesis y la ética. Todos los cristianos deben tener formación teológica,
y la iglesia evangélica latinoamericana necesita de personas pensantes comprometidas con el estudio disciplinado
y reflexi-vo de la teología.
A correct understanding of what theology is enables us to recognize its centrality for the Christian and the church. Theology is indispensable, for example, for catechesis, Christian education, evangelism, missions, pastoral ministry, apologetics, spirituality, exegesis, and ethics. All Christians should be theologically knowledgeable, y the Latin American evangelical church needs thinkers dedicated to disciplined and reflexive theological study.

La teología evangélica latinoamericana del siglo XXI debe tomar en cuenta algunas tendencias ya fuertes en el
subcontinente: globalización y creciente desigualdad económica, desintegración social y postmoder-nidad, inestabilidad
política y democracias frágiles, y pluralismo reli-gioso. Para hacer frente a tales realidades, la teología evangélica
debe ser interdisciplinaria y caracterizada por un diálogo constante entre las Escrituras, como autoridad final,
y las necesidades del contexto. Otras tensiones que se debe mantener en la metodología teológica se expondrán en
la segunda parte del artículo.
Twenty-first century Latin American evangelical theology must take into account some already strong tendencies in the subcontinent: economic globalization and increasing inequality, social disintegration and post-modernism, political instability and fragile democracies, and religious pluralism. To respond to such realities, evangelical theology should be interdisciplinary and characterized by a constant dialogue between the Scriptures, the final authority, and the needs of the context. Other ten-sions that should be maintained in theological methodology will be explained in the second part of the article.

En la espiritualidad oriental los conceptos de la realidad, el ser huma-no, el mal, la naturaleza física,
el propósito de la vida y la historia di-fieren de la cosmovisión teísta. La espiritualidad oriental atribuye
poco valor al ser humano y su futuro y falla al no darle un propósito a la his-toria. Aprendiendo de la espiritualidad
oriental, los cristianos debemos recuperar un mayor aprecio por la naturaleza. La encarnación del Evangelio dentro
de una cultura con cosmovisión oriental puede resultar en un cristianismo muy diferente del cristianismo occidental.
In oriental spirituality the concepts of reality, the human being, evil, physical nature, the purpose of life, and history differ from a theistic worldview. Oriental spirituality attributes little value to human beings and their future and fails to find purpose in history. Learning from ori-ental spirituality, we Christians should recover a greater appreciation for nature. The incarnation of the Gospel in a culture with an oriental worldview may result in a Christianity very different from western Christianity.
